Lars, Not a Fan of Hot Weather

Well it is official, Lars, my guide dog does know when it is ok to take his foot off the gas pedal.

Generally he is a little demon in harness pulling all the time and very hard, but as of late he has relented some what.

It is very hot here, and he is finally realizing that he does not have to go 100% all of the time to make me proud of him.

I hate it on the days when I think its too hot but he does not, because I am the one who is forced to travel quicker than I want too.

I do not like slowing him down because from my own experience, dogs work better when they set their own pace.

Our summer has been crazy this year, with bouts of cooler weather and rain, with the occasional blazing hot day.

For this last week, we’ve had nothing but those blazing hot days combined with heavy humidity, both making for very uncomfortable outdoor conditions.

Lars loves to come running with me when I go, but I’ve had to leave him at home as of late because of the heat.

Based on trial and error, I’ve figured out that he can not handle anything over 24 degrees, and for the last week or so here it has been over 30 plus humidity.
