Bar, Prowlling Like a Lame Tiger
Friday, today is three days post surgery for Bar and when I got him back on that fateful day, I could not have even dreamed that he would be the dog he is today.
Lars has made leaps and bounds in three days of recovery, litterally of course as actual leaping and bounding would be disasterous for sure at this early stage of his lengthy rehab process.
Today he is continuing to get up on his own accord, more frequently than he was yesterday and I can tell that he is getting bored of his captivity.
He paces around the living room, stopping to gaze longingly out the window, only to sigh and move on, just to return to the window minutes later.
One thing that was stressed to me by the surgeon is to not let Lars fool me into letting him do things that he actually is not ready for, and thus although the little man is trying very hard to win me over, he has a long, slow recovery plan laid out in front of him that I will not be deviating from.
Tomorrow, fourth day after surgery I will be starting some very passive range of motion exercises with Bar, mainly gently extending his leg and bending it bac to 90 degrees, or as much as he can tolerate to help stimulate the muscles around the knee and to keep them from cramping up.
